Our Print Methods

We’ve got the ideal print method for every creative style. Realize your favorite design, text or embroidery idea on our quality products! Thanks to over 20 years experience in the print-on-demand industry, we know which print method best suits your design idea to make it come out great on the product. Here you’ll find out which print methods we use.

DTF - Transfer Print

When it comes to the finest of details and colors coming out exactly as they should, DTF (“Direct to Film”) Printing is unbeatable. With transfer printing, your motifs are printed on film, provided with adhesive then pressed onto the product under pressure and heat; in other words, transferred.

### **The benefits of DTF:**

* Available for all file formats

* Extremely stretchy and durable

* Appropriate for both dark and light textiles.

* Compatible with cotton, polyester, blended fabrics and many other materials

### **When to use DTF?**

In DTF printing, motifs are pressed onto products with moderate temperatures and pressure, making them compatible with both rather coarse and fine fabrics, as well as blended fabrics.

There are more robust materials as well, including baseball caps, hats, bags and backpacks. T-Shirts and hoodies are also no problem. In addition, DTF printing is ideal for sport and functional shirts as the relatively low pressing temperatures preserve the finer polyester fibres.

### **What should I watch out for?**

Essentially nothing. In principle, the same [recommendations and requirements](10b30cdd-0f05-48cb-8d2a-7a946975087b) apply to DTF printing as to all other printing techniques.

* Transparent backgrounds

* Best possible resolution

* No semi-transparent prints

* Lines must be at least 1mm thick, as this can fade away on coarser materials.

Flex and Flock Printing

With our plot printing methods, your design is first cut out of various foils with a plotter, then weeded by hand with a great deal of dexterity before it’s pressed onto the product by applying high pressure and heat. Several foils are used that not only differ in color but also in feel.

Our flex, flock and special films are particularly suitable for texts and logos with up to three colors. If your designs consist of more than one color, we put the individual design components together like a puzzle before pressing.

Only designs or text that meet the following conditions are suitable for foil printing:

* Maximum 3 colors per design or text (special flex only one color)

* The template needs to be a [vector graphics file](948a85fd-1daf-4d9b-9cdf-fdaa2c356f77)

* No color gradients or transparencies

### **Flex print**

Flex-print films are available in many different colors. Flex print has a smooth glossy finish and convinces in terms of color brilliance, even after many washing cycles. As it is flexible and hard-wearing, it is particularly suitable for stretchy fabrics. Turbo flex is used on breathable fabrics.

### **Flock print**

Fock print, on the other hand, is velvety soft and protrudes slightly from the product due to its fluffy surface structure. It looks really good on all cotton products and is just as hard-wearing as flex print.

### **Special flex**

Our special flex print is a real visual highlight. Thanks to various special foils, you can make your design glittery or glow-in-the-dark. Please note: Only one color per text or design is possible with special flex.

Digital Direct

Digital direct is our go-to method. There’s almost nothing that can’t be printed using this method. It’s the standard choice for most of our products. Your design is printed directly onto the product, just like an inkjet printer. This is why we call it “Digital Direct” printing Here are the benefits:

#### **Especially Sustainable: Digital Direct as Print-on-Demand**

The majority of digital direct orders are produced using our Kornit Atlas printers. These printers use absolutely [water-free printing technology and 100% non-toxic biodegradable inks](https://www.kornit.com/our-impact/). This makes digital direct in combination with print-on-demand, one of the most resource-conscious options in the industry. We only print an item once it’s been ordered, which minimizes overproduction and excess waste.

#### **Tested for You: Print Results, Fabric Quality, and Durability**

Before a product is available for digital direct in our assortment, it’s first tested in-house. During this process, we test how well the fabric works with our printers and the ink. Like how brilliant the color and color fastness is, as well as durability. To answer these questions, new products must withstand 10 washes without losing colour intensity.
