The stage is all yours. The Spreadshop Design Challenge is here for you to flex your creative imagination. Express yourself and present us with your concept of ’60s, ’70s and ’80s retro cool. Here’s the lowdown on all the key details.
Let’s go retro – are you ready for the challenge?
Of course, things weren’t always better in the good old days. And the modern day isn’t too bad at all. But one thing’s for sure: this year’s fashion trends are throwing it back to the style highlights of the ’60s, ’70s and ’80s.
It’s all about retro, and we’re here for it. That’s why we’ve made retro style the theme of our first Spreadshop Design Challenge. Now it’s time to put your creativity to work. Create a design featuring bold neons, groovy effects or a flower power feel.
Looking for a last drop of inspiration? No worries. Our friends at Spreadshirt are putting together some tips on all kind of fascinating themes and occasions on their Marketplace blog. Find the right idea to spark your neon extravaganza or psychedelic, kaleidoscopic masterpiece.

Sign me up! – How to enter
Here at Spreadshop, we can be a pretty unruly bunch. But we’ve got to set a few rules for our Design Challenge.
- Each participant may only enter ONE If we receive multiple designs from one individual, our jury will only consider the first one.
- All Spreadshop Partners based in the EU can enter.
- The contest design must be uploaded and published to the shop.
- Our jury will not consider designs uploaded before 15 August 2023.
- The contest begins with the announcement of the theme and runs until 11:59 PM on 5 September 2023 (22 days).
- Submit your design by sending an email to socials-eu@spreadshop.com or a DM to our Instagram account. To do this, send us a link to the product featuring your design in your shop. You can choose which product to use to showcase your Challenge design.
More information is available in the General Terms and Conditions (see below).
And, as ever: by entering our design contest, you automatically acknowledge our conditions of participation and privacy policy.
And the winner is… – How the top entries are selected
We’ll review all designs entered and select 10 finalists internally based on the following criteria:
- Effect on the product: Does the product showcase the design properly?
- Creativity: Have you taken a creative approach to the theme?
- Originality: Does the design surprise and excite?
- Link to the theme: How relevant is the design to the competition theme?
The jury awards points from a scale of 0 to 3 for each of the individual criteria. That means your design can receive a minimum of zero and a maximum of 12 points from each jury member. The scores are then added together to create an overall points tally.
Customers and Partners can then vote for their favourite among the 10 best designs. You’ll find out where you can vote for your favourite from us in good time.
The prize is right – what the lucky winners can look forward to

- 1st place: €100 Spreadshop voucher
- 2nd place: €50 Spreadshop voucher
- 3rd place: €25 Spreadshop voucher
Alongside the vouchers, the top three designs will get a feature story on the Spreadshop blog, on Instagram and in our newsletter. That way you, your creativity and your shop are guaranteed the spotlight.
