Stock images? Snooze. Standard product display photos? Snore. Your social media feed deserves better.
Are your social media posts boring? If you’re posting stock images or simple product images from your Shop, people are probably scrolling straight past them. It’s time to get noticed, get creative, and land more sales. Here are some tips to get you started:
Show real customers
People are tired of seeing unrelatable models on social media. When you share photos of your actual customers wearing your gear, people automatically identify with them. When you show real people using your merch in real life, you make your brand relatable and desirable.
There are many Shop Owners already benefiting from this strategy. Check out Reclaim Your Power, for instance. Her inspiring and empowering shirts stand out in her Instagram feed, where she features proud images of her customers wearing their tees. This makes her brand credible and memorable.
The same goes for I Fight For It, a proud veteran who shows what his customers stand for on his Instagram.
Want more inspiration? Check out last month’s Shop of the Month Eden Lumaja, who also uses Instagram to show off her products and feature her customers.
Finally, Anita Girlietainment shows her love of horses on her Instagram, where she shares pictures of her fans sporting her merch, along with photos of horses: obviously a draw for her target niche!
She’s not afraid to represent her own brand, either. And that brings us to our next tip:
Strut your stuff—yourself!
It can take time and trust-building to get your customers to start sharing pictures of themselves wearing your merch. In the meantime, don’t be afraid to be your own model! People love seeing the face behind the product. You can also ask your friends and family to model for you.
Include a cool story
Once you have some cool, relatable imagery to share on social media, pay attention to your captions. Share a funny story about the design, or some interesting background info on the customer you’re featuring. With realistic images and inspiring stories, your feed will be so much more engaging for your fans.
Connect with your fans
So your new and improved social media content is gaining you more followers? Follow them back! Comment on their posts and connect with them. They’re more likely to return to your Shop if they feel a personal connection with you. Ask your customers, old and new, for snapshots of them with your merch.
Good luck creating shareable and meaningful content!
